Imiquimod诱发大鼠和小鼠银屑病

Psoriasis is an autoimmune and inflammatory disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin, which is estimated to affect 2.3% of the population in the world. Men and women are affected with equal frequency. The disease may begin at any age, but typically starts in adulthood.

Psoriasis cannot be fully cured, but various treatments can treat the symptoms. These include steroid creams, vitamin D3 cream, ultraviolet light and immune system suppressing medications, such as methotrexate. Most mild cases can be managed with creams alone. Psoriasis is associated with an increased risk of psoriatic arthritis, lymphomas, cardiovascular disease, Crohn's disease and depression. PharmaLegacy has established an imiquimod-induced psoriasis model in mice and rats to support drug discovery in psoriasis.
