Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is caused by T-lymphocytes in allografts after transplantation. It is stimulated by a series of "cytokine storms" initiated by recipients, which greatly enhance their immune response to recipient antigens. GVHD induces cell-mediated cytotoxicity, with skin, liver and intestine being the main targets. The incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease is 30% to 45%, and the incidence of chronic diseases is lower than that of acute ones.
Aim: To examine the effect of FTY‐720 and CsA on graft‐versus‐host disease (GVHD) in mice.
Animal: Balb/c mice (H‐2d) and C57BL/6 mice (H‐2b), male, 6‐8 weeks.
